Fancy This

I was first introduced to the brand Naartjie Kids at a local consignment event, Trunk Treasures about two years ago.  I remember purchasing two beautiful tops for my daughter.  To my amazement, even after several washes the garments held their shape and barely faded.  I was hooked.  Once she outgrew them, I bought a few more pieces from the actual store and was floored with the quality once again.

Brief description: Naartjie Kids is a children's clothing company that specializes in playful, vibrant and kid-friendly garments for kids ages 0-10.

Let's back track...

About a little over a week ago, I purchased more gorgeous pieces on their online store.  When I received my package, I was like a kid in a candy shop.  I even pulled my husband aside to show him each garment piece by piece but he was the least bit excited.

With his lack of enthusment, sparked inspiration.  I needed to somehow share "Fabulous Fashion Finds" like these, with other Mommies.  It was in that one moment, "The Fancy Frock" came to life.

Lined meow spot smocked corduroy pants in Creme.

I adore the smocking on the waist and the ruffled tulle trimmed accents.

Embroidered netting trimmed dreamy giraffe top in Creme.

The soft, whimsical hues and hint of sparkle makes this top so magical.

If you think Naartjie Kids may fit your child's lifestyle.  You've got to check them out to believe it.  I am telling you ladies, this brand does not disappoint.  The quality and attention to detail is exquisite.  It literally makes my heart sing.

Lea

Define Your Style

Everyone has there own style whether if you know yours or not.  It can come out either in your wardrobe, home interiors or the elements you choose to surround yourself in.  If you still have no idea what it could be. Try to observe what you gravitate to when you shop and ask yourself, "What defines my style?"

I  believe my wardrobe is primarily filled with classic staples.  I am mostly drawn to neutral colored garments but not afraid to play with vibrant colors.  I classify my style as Modern Chic.(I must admit, I LOVE a lot of everything.)  From modern edge looks to extra girly, frilly frocks.

Especially as a stay at home mom on the go, I try to stick to basic silhouettes that work for my body and lifestyle.  I then create different looks by using accessories.

Accessories are my ultimate WEAKNESS.(Hmm...Who would've guessed that? lol)  I can blog all day about them.  Whatever your style may be, remember to have fun with your wardrobe and mix it up!

Now let's get to the good stuff.  These are "Five Fabulous Fashion Finds" I picked up in the past couple of months that I absolutely LOVE and enjoy!  Each piece is a reflection of me. They are all versatile and can transition from season to season.

1) Black Leather Gun Metal Mesh Cross-over Sling that can interchange in to a night time clutch by BCBG Max Azira-$140.00

Oh....when I saw this bag, it was love at first sight.
I wore it all around the store before I even purchased it.  It was meant to be.

2) Soft Grey Spotted Pattern Light-weight Scarf by Vera Wang from Kohls-$15.00

Score buy.
I wanted to replace my grey leopard printed scarf (retired) from the previous year.

3) Neutral Fabric Leopard Printed Ballerina Flats by LUXE Steve Madden-$55.00(got them for just under $30!)

So adorable I couldn't leave them at the store.
The best part is they were an additional 30% off and
I got to also use my $10.00 off DSW Rewards!
(I will talk about couponing in another blog.)

4) Grey Sparkle Beaded Hoops by Old Navy-$8.00

I can never pass up a cute pair of earrings.
I am a total earring girl and rarely wear necklaces unless they are extra long.

 5) Amber Tortoise Shell Square Framed 70's Glam Sunglasses by Nina Ricci-Birthday Gift..Yippee

I am not much of a brand/label snob when it comes to clothing
but I do indulge in designer sunglasses and handbags.

Hope you enjoyed my Five~Fabulous Fashion Finds!

Do you fancy your FANNY...?

I can't say much about my FANNY these days because I seriously haven't looked at mine in last year or so.(As long as my hubby still fancies it. Then I guess, that is all that matters..right? lol)

With life just getting crazier, I am sad to admit that I have put daily exercise on the back burner.  Thank goodness, I eat healthy 80% of the time or things would really be out of control!!

Anyhow, it's now the beginning of the year.  For the first two months of the new year, you will see endless posterboards about weightloss, informercials about getting in shape and how to discover the "New You".

Oh, boy.  Realistically, I don't have two hours to devote to the gym or be on a crazy diet regimen.

I decided to commit to making healthier choices everyday.(Quite doable.)  Hoping diet and exercise will eventually fall into place.  Goodbye chocolate peanut butter balls, PoppyCock popcorn and scrumptious holiday treats.  Until we meet again next year.

Back to my daily serving of Yogi Blueberry Slim Life Green Tea in the mornings and preparing clean meals from Ellie Krieger's cookbook "The Food We Crave."

I made several meals from this cookbook throughout my pregnancy until now.
My family loves it!
P.S. I wouldn't be fancy if I didn't have cream with my tea.
I use sugar free, french vanilla by Nestle Coffee-Mate. YUM!

Check out these two new "Fab Fitness Finds"...

1) My hubby bought me a new "Fitbit" Tracker for Christmas which I haven't hooked up yet.  I was introduced to this savvy gadget by my lovely niece, Krissy.(I will update on this later, when in actual use.)

2) The "Bobble"...is a eco-friendly water bottle with a built in water purifier system.(equivalent to two months use or at least 250 liter bottles)  Suprisingly good, despite that I am a water snob.  My sister, Christine and I discovered this "winner" at Old Navy. Runs about $9.00.

I got my "Fitbit" in plum.
My "Bobble" is magenta pink/small 13oz.

 Cheers to Fabulous FIT Fannies!!!

My Fascination with Felt

I want to share my fascination with felt.  It's more of a love affair. I rekindled my love for it when I began making hair fashions almost three years ago.  It brings me a sense of nostalgia and playfulness every time I create with it.  I am not exactly sure why but I think it may stem from childhood memories.

Enchanting Butterfly Bloom Garden Headband

Remember in kindergarten when your teacher would use felt cut outs of objects, people and animals to tell a story?  I believe this is where my fascination really began.  I am such a visual learner and having colorful felt cut outs to look at during storytime took my imagination to a whole new level.

Dreamer or Doer?

I just became a member of a creative online community called  Dreamers into Doers, an affilate of Martha Stewart. When I first filled out the simple questionnaire, I had to ask to myself, "Am I still dreaming or am I doing what I love to do?"

Drop by my page on  Dreamers into Doers  and say "Hello!"

As far as I can remember, I have always been a dreamer and a doer. In junior high school, I recall selling personalized graffiti name art to my classmates to slip into the front of their clear faced binders. I would give them the option to choose three colors for $3 and $1 extra for a protective plastic sleeve. Word of mouth spread like wild fire but soon supply and demand got the best of me. Sadly, I had to stop taking orders.

The story still remains true today, I am a dreamer but definitely a doer. I try to take an opportunity and make it into something creatively meaningful.

Being a doer is not a easy task. Aside from being a stay at home mom, I design/handcraft all my products, run two online shops, market, promote and take on everything else that comes along with it. It can be very stressful and time-consuming but I am having a blast on this crazy creative journey...

Enjoying what I do is all that matters to me right now.

Introducing...Princess Rose Couture

I studied Fashion Design at The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, California and upon graduating I had to submit an Exit Porfolio.  I chose to do Bridal Wear.

I met and married my true love while I was still in school.  We had a very intimate, private affair and planned for the "Big Wedding" the following year.

During that time I remember being more inspired than ever, so putting together an exit portfolio based on Bridal Wear worked in my favor.  Aside from the pain-staking details of perfecting pattern flats, textiles and collaborating a cohesive collection, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process.

I recently opened it up again after all these years and began to look through it page by page. I then had a sudden revelation. To my surprise, I was still inspired by the same design elements, colors, textures and fabrics.  This makes me extremely happy because despite the pressure to keep up with ever evolving fashion trends, I have continued to stay true to myself.

One of my professors told me to always "design from the heart."

When "The Princess Rose" was approached to do custom hair fashions for an entire bridal party, I was overwhelmed with excitement because it brought back all the emotions of planning every detail of my very own wedding.

This is when I decided it was time to branch out a little further and open up my second shop on Etsy called "Princess Rose Couture."

"Princess Rose Couture" is an exclusive shop where you will discover vintage inspired hair fashions and specialty gifts for any special occasion.  Whether it be a wedding, christening or a romantic date with the one you love, I want to create something especially for you that you will cherish for many years to come...
